THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Living in a third world country, you realize how greatly we in the USA have been blessed. However, those blessings not kept in perspective will diminish our dependence upon God
We sent our information to the Manufacturer’s Association on 8/11 and they sent it to their members on the same day; we received a response from the Landau Corporation 8/12 and were invited to tour their facility in Puerto Cortes on 8/13. I was expecting a shop of 50 workers or so; it turned out to be a factory with almost 700 employees. They gave us the tour, committed to donating two industrial machines, offered a source where we can get more at a good price, and offered to continue helping us in any way possible…. We all went to church at ICF this morning; then Gene Moffitt and I went to the airport and picked up Mike Brady…. Instead of having a regular church service here this afternoon, Luis’s daughters and sons in law, and our team members went into several homes in Seis de Mayo to share the Gospel. Four people accepted Christ.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Living in a third world country, you realize how greatly we in the USA have been blessed. However, those blessings not kept in perspective will diminish our dependence upon God Red alert due to 100% humidity and 104°. Electricity was off all day. Teachers are still on strike; this was day 17 with no classes. Luis Paz and family visited today. He gave us freedom to use the new church building as much as we like next week when Eleazar Bermudez is here. Luis has been keeping up with our blogs and is excited about the manufacturing project. He gave us quotes on new roofing, named George to do the work, and offered us additional space. Actually, it was an excellent meeting. This week we had heavy expenses, but thank God we were able to cover them all … except the last one for $7811.96 lempiras. This afternoon Nelson handed me money he had collected for tuition -- 7800 lempiras. We had to come up with 63 cents. Got a call from the first of the “23 young men” today—Ferrio Ramirez re 4/9 meeting with Eliazar. Please pray.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Last night I reported how that a number of things fell quickly and somewhat unexpectedly into place leading to a successful surgery for Oscar. That was the answer to one of your prayers on March 1 and I never even mentioned it. That reveals something about my prayer life that needs attention. Cheryl had a really special birthday yesterday; she received about 70 Facebook cards. The surgeon examined Oscar and felt optimistic. Surgery will be performed tomorrow morning 7 at CEMESA, private hospital. Not sure of the cost; scheduled it on faith. Joel performed first test of the OSU water filters; two thirds failed. Back to the drawing board. ------ One of my favorite responsibilities at St. Francis Health System was workforce development – working with managers to match employees strengths and interests with departmental job tasks, and then delegating-- really delegating. The result was better departmental performance; greater job satisfaction; and fewer people needed to get the job done. As we continue to add more and more projects here, I think we need to do some workforce development. We have employees with the capacity do much more and many of them have free time on their hands. Furthermore, there are people in the village in need of a job who likewise have great capabilities. ---- I met the man today whose company has built big buildings in Puerto Cortes, including the big FICOHSA bank building. Were thinking maybe he can help us divide the dorm project into more manageable segments.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: The wisdom of this world says don't spend your money, invest it. To the believer, what is more valuable than money? Time. Time is more valuable than money. Therefore don't spend it, invest it -- in prayer, Bible study, service to others. |
